Interactive Map
The most comprehensive map of the Steyning Line and it's history anywhere. This unique interactive map traces the route of the historic Steyning Line, which once connected Horsham to Shoreham-by-Sea from 1861 until its closure in 1966. Today, much of the route survives as the Downs Link, a walking and cycling trail through Sussex countryside. This map highlights the line’s original path in red, with the modern Downs Link shown in blue. Former stations appear as green markers, while yellow markers indicate directly railway-related sites such as bridges and tunnels. Locations of interest that were featured in the Tracing the Rails documentary series are are also shown in purple.
Together, these layers bring to life over a century of transport history and community spirit — inviting you to explore the line as it was, and as it is today, both on-screen and underfoot.
